Smithy

In the smithy, as in the other workshops, we work at reconstructing both prehistoric and historic items.

The craft of the blacksmith has not changed substantially from the Iron Age to the present day. The hammer, anvil and bellows still look much the same as when the craft was first practiced.

The smithy is not manned daily, only on special occasions.

Watch the smiths at work and experience the fascination of seeing the glowing iron, which for a brief moment is soft and malleable and – in skilled hands – can be formed into all imaginable tools.
